CF Montreal - Mobile App 1.0

First edition of a realtime soccer mobile app

Montreal CF, a professional soccer team that recently joined Major League Soccer, wanted to get closer to its fans by offering them a mobile application. As the youngest team to join MLS, the club wanted to recognize this by differentiating itself from other soccer apps.

To provide the application to all fans, a hybrid application had been developed for iOS and Android platforms. To avoid creating 2 completely different code bases, the iOS and Android apps simply displayed webviews hosted on Heroku and developed using Angular.

Several views were developed to help fans find everything easily in one app. Game schedule, events, results, team standings and statistics, player information and statistics.

To keep fans up to date with the action on the field, real-time information was displayed and notifications were sent to know when a game started, ended, a team's score or when the club published news.

By posting tweets, fans could share their emotions with the club in real-time. A minute-by-minute check was run during games to create statistics on emotions during a match.

Four days after its launch, the application was the first application in Canada in the sports category. During the first game, the app was downloaded 7000 times and generated 200 tweets.
